Speedy Songwriting

Late last night, one of my D&D friends asked me to quickly help them with a song. They’d asked an AI to make a medieval-sounding soldier’s song about our Eastern European-themed setting, and it had done a really terrible Christmas carol-esque job of it.

In the limited timeframe, I don’t think I made anything worth publishing in a book, but at least it hangs together as a short song. You can sing it to the tune of “Babylon Has Fallen” if you ignore part of the refrain.

Steel and Stallion

Endless plains of Winter’s biting,
Frost and fury, ice and stone.
Land of heroes, proudly fighting,
Death and duty, blood and bone.

Sound the trumpets, stormclouds breaking,
Steel and stallion, ride to war!

Rippling banners, wolves are howling,
Scions of Danizca’s throne.
Through the darkness, monsters prowling,
Seeking those who stand alone.

Sound the trumpets, hoofbeats quaking,
Steel and stallion, ride to war!
